W.J. Cowee History
Supporting the floral industry for over a century
W.J. Cowee is the world’s leading manufacturer of wooden floral picks, producing more than a quarter of a billion every year for domestic and international distribution. Cowee’s product line also includes picks in a variety of sizes and styles, plant stakes and a full range of designer stones — all designed to help florists create stunning masterpieces.
The W.J. Cowee Company had its beginnings well over a century ago in the hamlet of Berlin, New York, located in the rolling Taconic hills of upstate New York. There, the creative ingenuity of the company’s founder, Willis Judson Cowee, helped solve a problem that had been plaguing florists for years.
Cowee’s simple but ingenious invention – the Cowee wired wood pick – prevented delicate flower stems from breaking by giving them strength and support in floral arrangements. The Cowee pick was an overnight sensation, and has continued to set the industry standard among floral design professionals.
Over a hundred years later, our products are now renowned worldwide, yet we remain deeply committed to our local community. Our thriving factory is still located in Berlin, New York, and we are one of the area’s major and most respected employers. We diligently safeguard our resources with conservation-minded forestry programs, practicing environmental responsibility and respect for our precious natural resources. Our commitment to the environment even includes using our wood by-products to generate electric and steam energy for our manufacturing facility.
W.J.Cowee – inspired by our past, helping design the future.
